Cloud

Cloud

SyncBackPro V8 takes cloud support to another level. OpenStack (Rackspace) and Backblaze B2 support has been added. The latest cloud API is now being used for OneDrive (Personal, Business and Sharepoint), Dropbox, and Azure. Amazon S3’s Transfer Acceleration and Glacier tier retrieval speed option are now supported. Delta changes support for OneDrive (Personal, Business and Sharepoint), Google Drive and Amazon Cloud Drive has been included and Google Storage now uses its own native API and not a S3 emulation. Microsoft Azure now also has support for resource manager storage accounts, cold storage, and Shared Access Signatures.

Power

64-bit versions of SyncBackSE and SyncBackPro V8 are now available. 64-bit takes advantage of faster processing speeds and higher memory utilization. You can now backup to or from a virtual drive (using SyncBack Containers or VHD/VHDX files). Containers and virtual drives are a more flexible and secure alternative to Zip files. Pro V8 also includes a new scripting engine that supports both 32- and 64-bit SyncBackPro. The new scripting component includes new example scripts as well as a script editor with features such as auto-completion, parameter hints and syntax highlighting. Scripts can be written in Basic or Pascal.

Security

Security

V8 now comes with central cloud OAUTH credential storage. This feature lets you manage all your linked cloud account tokens from a centralized location. You can authorize for the cloud service you want to use from here. Authenticating a Google account and authorizing access to user data through the Gmail OAuth 2.0 protocol is now supported. Prevent ransomware encrypted files from replacing your backups with the new Ransomware Detection feature. File integrity checks are now available so you can check your backup files to ensure they have not been tampered with or deleted. Due to popular demand, V8 now supports encryption of filenames during compression (using the PKWare SecureZip standard).

Performance

More file copying methods are available for you to choose from to suit various backup situations. With V8, 3 new file copy methods are introduced – Memory map file copying, Read ahead file copying and Multi-threaded file copying. FTP users can make use of multi-threaded FTP scanning to improve scan times. Multi-threaded scanning is now also supported for some cloud storage services (Amazon S3, Azure, Google Storage, Backblaze, and OpenStack). Emails are now sent faster because of support for the SMTP pipelining extension. This is useful for backup to email and also when emailing the log files.
