Privacy Policy for SyncBack Touch for Android

This policy covers the Android version of SyncBack Touch, distributed through the Google Play Store. It explains what the app does with information on your device. SyncBack Touch is a companion application: it gives SyncBackPro or SyncBackSE running on your own computer access to the device it is installed on, so that your backup, restore and synchronization profiles can copy files to and from it. It is not a cloud service. Your files are transferred directly between your own devices and never pass through 2BrightSparks.

It is important that you understand what this application does and does not do, and what the system permissions it asks for are used for. The key points are set out below.

The Android app requires the following two permissions to operate properly:

1. Storage Access (Required) - This permission allows the application to access/modify folders and files on the device as instructed by SyncBackPro/SyncBackSE when running your backup/restore profiles.

2. Location (Required) - This application collects location data to enable network sandboxing and to be able to show and use the connected Wi-Fi network name even when the app is closed or not in use. The Wi-Fi network name, and only this, is used solely for this purpose and no other information related to location is being recorded or used. For more info read the notes under the application's Settings -> Network page regarding "Home Network".

Additionally, the application does not collect or request any personal information which could identify the user.

What SyncBack Touch does not do

There is no account to create and no registration step. SyncBack Touch does not collect usage statistics or telemetry, does not contain advertising, and does not send any information about you, your device or your files to 2BrightSparks. We have no visibility of what you back up, when you back it up, or where you back it up to.

Your data is transferred directly between SyncBack Touch and the copy of SyncBackPro or SyncBackSE that you are running, over your own network. All communication between them is encrypted. We do not host, relay, proxy or store any of it.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

2BrightSparks Pte Ltd may amend this policy by posting the amended terms on our web site, and the date at the foot of this page will be updated whenever we do. Where a change materially affects how we handle your personal data we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention, for example by a notice on the website.
