OneDrive for Business on Office 365

Post by ppack » Thu Jun 02, 2016 12:32 pm

Hello,

I can see the OneDrive for Business active in my PC's system tray.

It seems that Microsoft is already offering an application to sync my files between my disk & the Office 365 cloud.

The Microsoft sync is great because it is "set and forget" and runs in the background in real time (changes are instantaneously reflected to the cloud), but at the same time it does not offer the level of granularity of a SyncBack Pro.

Should I stick to the sync feature offered by Microsoft or turn to SyncBackPro instead ? Will not the 2 sync compete (eg. MS syncing files but also SyncBackPro syncing files)?

Note: I did look at this page but it does not answer my question. http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/help/cloud.htm

Is there a tutorial to use SyncBackPro with OneDrive for Business?

Hi,

There is an article describing the procedure for Google Drive at http://www.2brightsparks.com/resources/articles/backup-to-google-drive.html which is very similar to the rest of the cloud storages supported by SyncBackPro. So instead of Google Drive you will have to create a profile using Office 365 as a source (or destination), with the rest of the steps being almost the same.

As for your question regarding which app to use, it's totally subjective depending what you are trying to achieve and how. SyncBackPro allows you to specify folders and files, do backup/mirror or sync, use fiters, schedule the profile execution, just to name a few. Just remember not to use both apps at the same time (if use you SyncBackPro for Office 365 that is) since that could cause more requests to your Office365 account and a higher possibility of throttling and denying service. Also the possibility of having both apps trying to copy over the same files (again, depending on how you've setup your SyncBackPro profiles).

Thanks,
Kostas

Hello, I want to ask something before buying the pro version. Does it has any restriction related to the number of files or folders that can be synchronized? Because the microsodft software has a limitation of 20000 files.
