Problem: SBM doesn't reverse lookup dynamic domain names

Postby hhh » Wed Jul 25, 2012 6:41 am

Since yesterday, the SBM service doesn't reverse lookup dynamic domain names, wich means all incoming connections from our remote syncback installations are rejected as banned hostname/IP.

Any ideas what may cause this?

Is there anything in the Service Status? Try setting the Min. Level to Debug to see all the debug information. There should be entries starting with "TDBHostnames2.IPToHostname" that have the IP address.

We'll also update it to output more debug information if it fails. As it was working before, my guess is either the network is down or the server it is checking with is down (or cannot be reached).

i'm looking into it and i'll post back with more info.

the funny thing is that at the same time as the lookup started to fail, connections with the console from my worstation started to fail. I had to create an IP address entry for my workstation in order to be allowed to connect with the console.

There are no entries containing "TDBHostnames2.IPToHostname" in the debug.
All I get is warnings regarding failed login attempts from banned hostname/IP.

It seems that our ISP has done changes to their dns, so this is probably not a SBM issue. For now I'll just use * to allow anyone to connect to the service. :-)
