Unable to connect - User / Password wrong

Postby NicCo » Mon Nov 09, 2015 9:27 am

Hi,
I have several Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2 servers. I have SBP 7.4.0.0 and SBM 2.8.0.0 on each servers and SBMC 3.6.0.0 on a Windows 2008 R2.
With Windows 2008 R2, no problem to connect from SBM to SBMC but with Windows 2012 R2, I have a message error when I try to connect to SMBC : wrong user or password.
Is it a known bug from Microsoft or 2BrightSparks ?
Thank you.

Hi, sorry, but if it's saying wrong username and password then it can only mean that. I can only recommend double checking you're using the correct server and correct username and password.

Hi,
I've checked several times and username / password /server are corrects.
Is it necessary to configure anything on SBMC ?

Hi, on the console you need to configure which server you're connecting to (hostname, port, etc) and the username and password. Have you also made sure that you've allowed connections from the clients? By default it will only allow local connections (i.e. connections from the same computer the server is on). You need to add the client IP addresses and/or hostnames (using the console) so clients can connect.

Hi, just to add on, each SBP client that you want to connect to SBMC/SBMS to, you need to create a user account from SBMC first (amongst other configuration as stated by Mickyj), which is then entered during configuration of the "Management Service Settings" under SBP.

For more info, please refer to Step 2e and 4 of this PDF guide:

Thank you.
I've found the issue, my DNS was wrong so returned hostname was not allowed.
