Securely Empty Trashcan - Erros

Postby DennisK » Sun Mar 09, 2014 2:18 pm

Hey Guys!

I'm using the newest version of "Delete on Click" (February 2014).

New to me is the attached error-message, when I'm "Securely Empty" the trashcan (see attached file).

Any ideas? Mine was to empty the trash one time with the normal windows function. But there is no change.

Thank you!

Dennis

I think you may have a couple of corrupt .lnk files in your Recycle Bin. The Securely Empty function is trying to open those files (to overwrite their inner contents with random garbage) and can't do so, as shown. If you can delete them manually, I'd suggest you do so, as they're unlikely to contain anything sensitive. If not, you might need a CHKDSK or similar, as seems you have some disk errors

(PS: yes, I checked the Securely Empty function on a random VM, and it worked fine...)

Thank you, Dave!
That worked. Was new to me that there could be a hidden file in the trash, which needs admin-rights to be deleted.
