Adjusting schedule on multiple policies....

Postby storagenetworking » Mon Jul 31, 2017 5:09 pm

Hi Everyone,

Looking for options to update scheduling on multiple policies. Ideally I wish I could select multiple jobs and be able to apply a single schedule to all of them.

Any alternatives ???

Thx

Hi,

You can create a Group profile in SyncBackPro, and add profiles you want to run on a single schedule as members to the group. Please read the help file > Using SyncBackPro > Basic Operation > Creating a Group profile for more details.

Once the group is created, you can create a schedule task for the group under:

Modify group > When > Edit Schedule settings page

When the group is run via the Windows Task Scheduler, all the member profiles in the group will run in a sequence.

Thank you.

Hi,

In addition, please note that when creating a scheduled group, please remember to delete per-profile schedules (if exists), otherwise the profiles will run twice (or may lead to collisions).

Thank you.

Great, Thanks for the info - it really helps.

Can I control how many jobs I can run simultaneously?

Also are there settings that I need to check in case if one job fails and prevents the other ones to run?

Hi

Can I control how many jobs I can run simultaneously?

Sorry, but there is no setting in SyncBack to control the number of profiles that can run simultaneously. The profiles in a group can be configured to run either serially (default option) or simultaneously. If you wish to run some profiles in parallel then you can create a group for those profiles and enable the option "Run profiles in parallel" under:

Modify group > Main settings page

When the group is run, all profiles in the group are run in parallel. However, as stated in the help file, we do not recommend running many profiles in parallel because it will increase the time taken to run the profiles and overload your computer, drive, network, memory etc.,

Also are there settings that I need to check in case if one job fails and prevents the other ones to run?

Not required, as SyncBackPro does not stop the group execution if a profile run fails (however, if a profile in the group is aborted (not failed) then the group will be aborted. This is by the design of our software).

Thank you.
