Creating and running
your first backup profile
|
The
Simulated Run
Click
the OK button
on the Profile Setup screen:

 |
If you
have closed the Profile Setup Window
you can always reopen this window
by selecting a profile, then clicking
the Modify button
on the main program interface. |
The following dialog box
will appear:
| Would you like
to perform a simulated run for
this new profile? A simulated run
does not copy or delete any files,
but does produce a report on what
would have been copied or deleted. |
This allows you to check
the profile functions correctly without
actually copying any files. After you
click Yes, the 'Simulated Run' begins.
 |
In
future you need only select your
profile, then select Simulated
Run from
the Task menu. |
Icons to
pause or stop the profile, and a progress
bar will also appear as the files are
being processed. SyncBackSE processes
files very quickly so if you're only
backing up a few files you may not
see this change. Clicking on an icon
will either stop or pause a given task.
The task is signified by the third
icon, in this case a 'run' icon that
appears to the left of Business:

As the profile is being
processed an icon will also appear on
the Windows Taskbar located on the bottom
right of your screen:
 |
SyncBackSE icon when
a profile is not running |
 |

The Differences Window
Depending on your settings,
you may see the Differences Window
after the initial scan takes place.
The Differences Window shows what will
happen to the files (whether they will
be copied, deleted, or moved).
Once
you have reviewed the differences
click Continue
Run (click the screenshot
to enlarge):

 |
Note how
in the Differences Window, the toggle
icon has been clicked to show more
options:

|
You can
configure your profile never to show
this window in
future from within Expert Mode
>
Compare
Options.

When you
see the Differences window after your
source and destination has
been scanned, you will simply need to
click the Continue
Simulation button to
accept the default settings which are
always
'set to safe'.

Congratulations!
You have created a profile and made
a simulated run.
To make
a backup of this profile in the future
you need only select the profile
in the main window, then click the Run button:
