Singapore is an island country located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula and lies just 137 kilometres (85 miles) north of the equator. Singapore is one of four remaining true city-states in the world.

I was struck by the difference between the urban coastline of Singapore which has become the world's busiest port and the home of 2BrightSparks, and that of Pulau Bintan which continues to boast unspoilt silver sands edged by palm trees.
