Tsunami Appeal for School Repairs and Improvments

At the start of 2005 2BrightSparks began donating towards the work of a small independant group in Phuket which assisted children who had been orphaned as a result of the Tsunami which struck the asian coastline during December 2004.

Chidlren were given books, other study aids, and a school uniform. Schools were a crucial support mechanism for the children immediately following the loss of their family.

The work of this group now concentrates its efforts on supporting the maintenance and repair of smaller schools which come under the radar of the larger charities.

ACRES has been influential in changing attitudes towards wildlife conservation and improving animal welfare in Singapore. Many animals have been rescued from cruel and life-threatening conditions, and thousands of children and adults now know more about animal welfare because of their work.

ACRES' approach is to focus on education and scientific research, and has run a number of campaigns in Singapore and throughout Asia with the aim of improving animal welfare and the eradication of animal abuse. Acres operates a 24-hour wildlife crime hotline which has led to the rescue of many animals from the illegal wildlife trade.

Acres is a member society of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), one of the largest and most influential international animal welfare groups.

Acres is a non-profit organization and registered charity (Registration number:1849) and a registered society (ROS 0176/2001) based in Singapore.
