Hash Verify Compatable

Postby jschinabeck » Thu Mar 08, 2007 12:23 am

Is there some means to create a 'Hash Verify File' that is compatable between Find On Click (on WinXP) and Fingerprint (on Win98se)?

Would like to be able to transfer directories of files between a Win98se and several WinXP systems on my local network and include a 'Hash Verify File' to verify the transfer and subsequent file integrety. Find On Click would be used on WinXP to remove dupes and generally organize the directory and subs, while the Win98se system would be used to archive and redistribute files to other networked systems.

Hi, if you use SyncBack freeware (or SyncBackSE) you can enable a verification option that will guarantee the copy is the same as the original (if SyncBack/SE is used to copy the file).

SyncBack would verify the transfer, but file integrety of long term archived files (on hard disks or CD-DVD) and subsequent transfer from the archive is not covered. The need is to maintain a 'traveling' hash verify to check long term archive file integrety and to transfer a copy of hash verify when one or more files are copied from the archive. This job could be handled by SyncBack if it would apply hash verify files generated by FingerPrint and Find On Click. Hash file compatability between the applications would allow manual verification. In other words, the hash code should travel with the associated file, and be checked/verified at each interim destination. Checks of static archived files could be scheduled to run. Would be ideal to plant the hash code in each files header if there were room for it.
