Back from hols, World Cup

Postby mickyj » Fri Jun 09, 2006 3:03 am

I'm back from my short holiday (just 4 days) but it's the longest time I've not been near a computer in a very long time. Unfortunately on my return I had over 1,200 emails. Fortunately 50% of that was spam that went straight in the bin.

As all of you will know (except anyone north of the Mexican border) the World Cup starts today :wav:

As I'm sure most of you agree, England will win  That's what I hope, but realistically I very much doubt it. If they reach the quarter finals I'll be surprised. They'll do what they always do: score a goal lead in the first 15, spend the rest of the game defending, turn the game into a snore fest :sleepy1:, then the other team will score 2 goals and win (one of which will be controversial, e.g. hand ball, diving for a penalty, etc). The best team will win, meaning Brazil.

Watching England play (if you can call it that) yesterday against T & T was as painful as having dental surgery without anesthetic. Maybe they'll blame the heat, the pitch, the ball, the air, the sun, the earths rotation...

Yeah, especially *that* game could have ended totally different because of the brilliant T&T team. They had a lot of goal-chances as well.
Just image what the press would have written if England lost with 0:2
