rename old versions of updated files, possible?
Hi
Is it possible to save the old version of a file insted of just writing over it?
I would like to have the latest file keep the filename
Is this possible in SE? or do I have to update to Pro for that??

Hi
Modify > Expert > Copy/Delete > Versioning
probably does more or less what you're looking for, although it stores the old(er) files in one of two special locations. There's no way to rename* the old(er) files and keep them in the same exact location as the new one. But this actually helps with a disaster-recovery, because the default Restore is thus 'most-recent, and nothing else', and you don't automatically get all the old versions of files back that you may not want. So a D/R Restore is still pretty much as 'turnkey' with Versioning as it was without it.
See the contextual Help on the Versioning page (press F1 with page open) for more background
* the renaming actually consists of adding a date/time stamp (of the actual Versioning operation) to the file-name. This is displayed to you in the Differences window (if you investigate any available Versions) so that you can see when it was replaced, deleted, etc. The LastModified stamp of a Versioned file is never altered, so you can also track that.

Hi Dave,
I am using the free SyncBackV3.2.26.0 (en_CA), and when I follow the above advice I can't see the "versioning" option you are mentioning.
I can follow up to Modify > Expert > Copy/Delete...but then there is no check box or anything representing Versioining.
Please advise....

Check the forum you're posting in, versus the version you are using?
As stated above
Versioning is not supported in the freeware version.
