Doesn't copy files between shared folders on my network

Postby gibra » Sat May 12, 2012 8:29 am

Hi,

My scenario is:
- PC1: Pro 64bit Win7
- PC2: HP Win7 64bit
- The two PCs are connected on a local network
- The source files are on a 500GB USB drive (external and shared) of PC2
Task:
I want to copy all the contents from USB drive (PC2) to a blank USB 640GB (PC1) of PC1 (about 315 GB to be copied)
Note: USB disk (PC2) is Shared with Everyone to Full Control permissions.

I tried several times with both the Synchronize and Backup (using default options), but SyncBack has only created the folder structure and did not copy any files. There was nothing to do! :(

Finally, I had to connect the 640GB disk to the same computer of 500GB disk.
Only in this way is working. :D

Among other things, apart from the slowness, the estimated time of SyncBack is wrong because it initially gave 7 hours, 9 are past and now tells me that still required 2.5 hours.

How is it between two computers can not copy?

thank

You would need to sign up for ticketed support and submit a Support Zip with debug-out of a profile which ran with such a configuration & result. You should also first - before re-running the profile, which you'll need to do, with debug-out set - enable the option on the Log settings page (in the profile, not the global program settings) to 'Log the reason why files/folders are Ignored/Skipped' (both sides, please). Chances are it is a simple configuration error, whereby all files are de-selected or filtered out, and the same mistake wasn't made in the new profile. Such a configuration will often copy the profile tree (unless you take steps to stop it) but no files.

There's an article that explains the support ticket sign-up process at:

Please note that the forum and the ticket area are separate systems and currently require separate registration for each system. You can re-use the same credentials (if also 'vacant' on the 2nd system you register with) but you still need to register again/separately.
