datetime of copied files
Maybe I'm missing something, but why does copied file have current date/time.
Shouldn't them keep date/time of the original file ?
Bye.
P.S.: The destination directory is on a UNIX server accessed via Samba.
I'm using SmartSyncPro which preserve correct datetime, while SyncBack copies file with the current datetime.

It should have the same file date/time as the original. Are you using the beta or version 2?
But Samba has other problems, i.e. it doesn't even use the correct date & time anyway which is why SyncBack supports a date/time offset, e.g. ignore time differences of 2 seconds.

I have the same problem with FTP. I know that there are some command to execute to set the correct date/time because I had the same problem (which is fixed now) with Total Commander (www.ghisler.com).

FTP is different again. If the FTP server does not support the MDTM command (or it supports it in a non-standard way) then there is no way to change the date & time for a file.
But I still do not understand why on Samba your files are using the current date & time. This should not be the case. There are other users using Samba and they have no date & time problems. Unfortunately there is no way I can test as I don't have a UNIX server. If you use Windows Explorer to copy a file to a Samba share, does it use the correct date & time? Thanks

Good question. In effect, Windows Explorer produce odd mixed results when copying file from a local folder to a Samba folder: some files are copied with their correct datetime, where others are copied with the same wrong datetime without a consistent rule.
What is more surprising to me is how SmartSyncPro is capable of making its backup without any mistake: the files datetime is always right.
I have contacted the Samba server administrator in order to investigate on this problem.
For now, that's all.

SyncBack uses the same Windows API routine to copy files as the Windows Explorer (it's SHFileOperation). What I can do (or at least try to do) is add an option to force the date & time of the file to be correct (so I'll do what Windows should be doing). Thanks.

Destination File Create Date does not match Source
My source file is in XP. Destination is ME. After syncing from source to destination, the Modify dates are correct, but the Create date in the destination is the "today" date, while the source create date is as before. Is there a fix for this ?
