Syncback's profile database?
I have had to build a new machine but the old hard drives are still intact so I can recover any data I want.
Rather than having to redefine all of my backups/syncs, I'd really rather just grab the database from the old hard drive - but I don't know where it is! Will you tell me where the database (or individual files) are kept so I can restore my backup jobs to their previous state?
* O/S = Windows XP Pro sp3
* no error, I just have a question
Thanks in advance,
Ken Mosher

Hello Ken,
I had the same question and after searching around I notice another topic:
====================
I would fire up Regedit and investigate the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MJLSoftware\SyncBack
which is where your profiles are stored. This should contain sub-keys with your profile's names, inside which are the obvious settings such as Source, Destination, and all the various 'click' settings such as AttribMask, AutoClose, etc (over a hundred in all per profile)
====================
So all profiles are stored in the registry. To avoid this problem in the future you can export your profile to a file and store these files so you can import them later on.
I hope this will help.
Cheers,
Guido

Thanks, Guido, I was afraid it might be tucked into the registry where it will practically impossible to migrate onto the new system. Well, I guess I can at least get the names and important settings written down.
Oh, here's a problem! How do I edit the registry of a machine that's not running any more? The old bootable hard drive is installed as a secondary drive on my new PC...

Hi
Try this
http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/667475-fishing-out-old-registry-files.html
combined with
http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=424735
The key you are looking for is called MJLSoftware\SyncBack (with settings in that last key, and subkeys of it per profile). Settings/profiles are stored 'per user', but if you were the only (SyncBack?) user, you might only need the one. Don't forget you can export that key (branch) to a file if you find it, and then Import it into the current registry after you unload that hive
As usual, playing with registry files can be dangerous, and this involves loading parts of the old registry into the new one. Accidents can happen: do not try to sue us if you break it!
Note that I have never actually done this, and it's a little outside the scope of a SyncBack question, so I can't give any further help. Googling might, or other contributors may have something to add (feel free, folks
